Dalnoboyshiki-3 (Rig’n’Roll)
Dalnoboyshiki-2 (King of the Road) was one of those rare games that even grabbed the attention of people who don’t play many games at all. The romance of the road, the endless miles of concrete under your wheels, dreamlike trips without any particular reason, where the defeat of your competition is not as important as the trip itself. These are the type of games that should conquer the world. The last game in the series reminded one of an expensive collectible model 1:43 scale in size. A small and yet charming game world, miniature highway interchanges, and a whole store of sharp curves.
Rig’n’Roll is very similar to the last game in the series, and yet it’s a completely different world. The scale of the game is very different. Maybe the trucks are not real just yet, but they sure are getting close to this. Long roads, wide turns, mountains, the ocean, lakes and plains all await us in the third game of the Dalnoboyshiki series.
In the long journey across American roads, we are guided by Aleksey Artemenko, the head of a group responsible for the promotion of 1C games.
Question: When there are so many roads before you, when the map is so full of tempting cities, it’s really difficult to decide where to start. How do we find our place under the sun?
Aleksey: At first the gamer gets a truck, a certain amount of cash, and connections with a small number of bases, where he can pick up the cargo and deliver it where he is told. Upon completion of your delivery, the driver is rewarded not only with money, but also with a certain amount of prestige.
If the driver has low prestige, certain people can steal important information from him, while others will refuse to work for him, and others will ask for a much higher price for their services. Gradually the gamer gets more money, gets more prestige and respect, and can buy better trucks and hire better drivers for them. As his business grows the gamer can open little chains of his business all over California, and do nothing but manage his company if he wishes.
Question: And to exchange our high truck cab for a boring office and business suit?
Aleksey: Of course not! Even though the gamer will spend some time managing his company, he will still spend a great deal of time driving, or else he won’t be able to progress through different parts of the game. Actually this is a very realistic concept. After all Americans who own large trucking companies, often started out as regular drivers and spend a lot of time behind the wheel. Other than delivering cargo, the gamer will have a chance to participate in races, from personal drag races, to official competitions on delivering cargo with a time limit. Actually you will have a very wide array of missions and game modes to choose from.
This is specifically designed so that people can choose their own style of play. Some people like the pressure of speed, while others prefer to deliver their cargo at their own pace and enjoy the scenery. But the game world will consist of much more than just this. It will include many different characters, related missions, and a few run-ins with the local mafia, as well as a separate romantic story.
Question: Will the game be too easy?
Aleksey: No, at first the gamer will have to choose a level of difficulty, which will decide how aggressive your competition is. The lower the level of difficulty, the less aggressive is your competition on the road. The level of difficulty will also affect the behavior of the truck. It will affect the truck’s and the cargo’s resistance to damage.
Question: Let us look inside the garage.
Aleksey: The game will have more than two-dozen drivable trucks (Considering different paint schemes, more than 200 truck variations) and about the same number of AI cars. The trucks will consist of Freightliner, Volvo, Peterbilt, Mack, International, Stearling, and practically all the truck models that you find on the roads of America. Every type of cargo will be carried in a corresponding trailer. The gamer will not have to buy this trailer, as it will be given out along with the cargo, but if in the process of delivery the trailer gets damaged, the gamer will be fined for the repair of the trailer.
The game has two variations of truck repair service. First you can hand over your truck to the mechanics and let them fix everything that they find wrong themselves. Second you can decide yourself what needs to be fixed on your truck, and tell the mechanic to fix only what you want them to. The problem is that, the mechanics might not offer you the cheapest repair price, while if you decide yourself what needs to be fixed so that you wont break down in the next 5 miles, you can put off the less important damages until you have the means to pay for their repair.
Question: Will the game have a system of upgrades, if we want to squeeze more out of our truck?
Aleksey: Yes of course. You will not only be able to change the outside appearance of your truck (change the color of your truck, choose a panel, change the look of the inside of the cab, for example the upholstery) but also improve the inner workings of your truck (put in a more powerful engine, improve the suspension).
In reality the gamers are mistaken in thinking that the upgrades in racing games are really that easy. It’s not so easy to improve the power of a truck, because a truck is not a racecar, or even a regular car. If you need additional horsepower, it’s better to buy a new truck.
Question: Okay we decided to get another truck. Now where do we go?
Aleksey: To the store! There are special dealers that sell trucks. When you buy a truck, the driver usually knows what kind of truck he wants and selects the best-priced model. There will also of course be used trucks. Once you buy a truck it will be transported to one of the player’s company headquarters.

Question: America, yes there is plenty to look at here.
Aleksey: California itself is very unique in its variety. Here we have deserts, canyons, the shores of the Pacific Ocean, and the mountains of the Sierra Nevada. Then we have the metropolises of Los Angeles and San Francisco, and San Diego, while the one story towns are not far away either.
And all of these roads are real. All of these roads, highways, truck stops, gas stations, and etc. If the player would go to California for real and look out the window he would find very familiar places. The developers took a couple of trips to California in order to accurately recreate the game world, and spoke to real truckers and listened to their many stories, in order to get a feeling for what life is really like for an American trucker and of course put that into the game as much as possible.

Aleksey: If you violate the traffic rules you will be fined mercilessly. Of course that doesn’t mean that the police will see every thing that you do wrong. For example in the cities the police are stricter, while in the open highway some things can be forgiven.
Also don’t think that if you don’t hear a police siren right after you break some rule that you got away with it. The police can later find you as you enter a city or town. In that case the player will have to decide what is better, to hand himself over to the police, or to try and get away in a chase.
Question: And what, will they seriously even shoot at you if you break the law?
Aleksey: Well no, it won’t come to any shedding of blood. While there were some requests for us to make it so that the player could clear the road for himself using a weapon, but we decided not to do that.
Question: And now we come to a question that we just have to ask. What is an approximate release date for the game?
Aleksey: We are planning for spring of 2007.
Question: When will the beta testing begin?
Aleksey: The thing is that since the game is so global, the beta testing has been happening for a long time now. We are testing the vehicles, the roads and etc. The length of the roads is very big, about 2000km. At first we were planning to compress the scale of the roads 10-15 times, but when we tried that the result was something very different from what we wanted. So the territory is huge, and the game will be epic.

közeleg a megjelenés, a beta tesztelés valószinűleg most folyik már ha minden a terv szerint halad

This is not an online magazine, but most of the members of the 1c forum cant wait to buy it, so I asked them to scan it and of course I will translate for everyone when it comes out.
Its getting close to release and the beta testing should be happening right now if everything is going according to plan.
I will also email Igor Belago in a few days and ask him if there is anything new and how the beta testing is going. It has been a month since any new info. I think its time to ask some questions again. -
