    noh meg1x:

itt egy rövid alapinfó. azért olvass utána jobban, nehogy valamit elqrj.

Every time I reinstall Windows XP it over writes
my MBR (master boot record) and I loose the ability
to boot to GRUB and dual boot my laptop. This is a bit
annoying if you don't know how to fix it. Fortunately
as long as you are not changing partition info your data
is OK and an easy fix is available.

Step 1. Boot the recovery CD.

Step 2. Know which partition is your boot partition.
fdisk -l /dev/hda will list your partition table for you.

    Step 3. Replace GRUB
    # grub --no-floppy
    grub> root (hd0,x)
    grub> setup (hd0)
    grub> quit
Note: (hd0,x) replace x with the /boot partition id number.

This process will reinstall grub and bring back
    the GRUB boot menu.
