- The original core team that created the God of War franchise has been brought back to make God of War PS4.
- Combo counter has been removed.
- The troll that Kratos fights in the E3 demo is just a regular enemy. It's not a boss at all. There are several different species of trolls, not just one kind. Actual boss fights will be even bigger than anything we've seen before.
- Kratos' son can be controlled with a single button on the controller. He can open doors, help you complete puzzles, you can have him attack specific enemies, etc. He's very competent in battle. For example, if there are 100 enemies on screen, he will attack the less difficult enemies to defeat so that you, Kratos, can focus on the more challenging enemies. You can also upgrade his abilities throughout the game.
- The game is a lot more open than previous God of War games, but it's not a open world game. The feeling of discovery and exploration is emphasized.
- They are overhauling all of the game systems, for example, the weapon upgrading system. There might be a crafting system in the game.
