"This video is the shorter video I promised. It shows 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% strength levels simultaneously in a four window configuration.
AI is definitely one of the things that needs to be improved in this game. This video shows the same cars (12 Group A's), on the same track (Sakitto East), with the player in an E30 M3 starting at 8th place each time. The only difference being the AI strength.
At 0% strength (not shown in this video) the AI is nothing more than moving obstacle. I lapped them about 4 times in my 5 laps. Very easy, very docile. Just something simple to interact with on the track.
At 25% the AI is a slightly faster moving obstacle. Still very docile, still very slow.
At 50% the AI is a good bit faster. If you're a slightly moderate driver, you should be able to beat this skill level every time, but you probably won't be lapping them a million times in a short race. I personally would use this skill level to try to choreograph races, since at 50% the AI is still slow enough to beat easily, but fast enough to seem believable in a video.
At 75% the AI starts getting really aggressive, and doesn't mind running you off the road if you get in the way too much. It took me many attempts to get a good recording at this strength level. As long as you don't get run off the road by the AI, this is a pretty fun, challenging strength level.
At 100%, you're pretty much guaranteed to be run off the road if you get anywhere near the AI drivers. Without this hostility, the AI would be pretty fast, and very competitive.
The AI at the higher levels desperately need better collision detection. The higher strength level, the worse the collision detection. The AI cars literally have zero collision detection at 100%. If this can be fixed, the AI should be excellent in this game, and now there's a good bit of time for them to get it right.
I assume that 60-65% is probably the best setting currently, but I haven't had a chance to test it out yet."
