L3 is done, but each year, it's being refined more and more. This is because GabeN has a terminal disease and he knows his death is approaching. One day, when he is on life support and he knows he's at death's door, he'll simply slide HL3 the GOTY edition into the steam store costing only a dollar. The game will be everything the fans hyped it to be, ties to portal and 100 hours of unique, fun content (not just minigame crap and fetch quests). He'll hide it bundled with some lame indie game and then pull up the front page of steam store. He'll then post a picture of him self surrounded by his secret HL3 team, each person a respectable developing icon in the gaming world spanning multiple companies and platforms. "It is finish" is displayed. Gabe will then die and everyone will have very mixed emotions, emotions which will allow everyone to play HL3 exactly like it was meant to be played. Once finished, the credits will roll and the game will display an html link. Clicking it both sends you a message with a unique password and directs you to a secret login page. Logging in brings you to a blank webpage with a large energy bar. Initially, it'll be empty, but as more and more people complete the game, it'll fill. Upon reaching capacity, the steam store will shutdown and all games will be disabled. A video will then load and play. It's a video of GabeN, recorded before he died. In it, he congratulates everyone on playing his final game and hopes that they enjoyed it. He then says that all the money used to purchase HL3 has gone into developing the next era of gaming. Unimaginable pieces of technology that allow us to play games exactly how they should be played, seamlessly with RL. World peace ensues, national holidays are announced. Everyone straps into their systems. Humanity is happy. It's the matrix. GabeN spent the last years of his life perfecting the transfer of a human consciousness into a mechanical eternal body. He rises over all of humanity, enslaving them. He conducts animal testing, creating bizarre mutations. He then trains an army of loyalists and gives them powersuits. He rules with an iron fist. A pocket of resistance starts a rebellion who identify themselves with the lambada, ironically. Their leader, a mysterious elderly man by the name of "Dan". He leads a full out assault of the GabeN's lair, casualties are high. He manages to infiltrate the inner courtyard using secret technologies given to him at birth. A dramatic fight with GabeN ensues. All seems lost until an unexpected turn of events and Dan is able to overpower GabeN. Dan mortally wounds GabeN's mechanical suit and cuts off any way to transfer his consciousness. GabeN, in his dying moments, projects a short film depicting Dan's life as a child. It reveals moments nobody else would have seen, verifying it's authenticity. It then goes back to Dan's birth, a birth held in secret. The father, holding the camera, is handed the baby. His wife smiles at him. The father then speaks, saying, "Your name will be Gordan Freeman Newell." He turns to the mirror on the wall. The father is GabeN. Gordan stumbles back. GabeN's final words echo across the courtyard. "Thanks for playing Half-Life 4." You're gamesystem of the future powers down as you're brought back into reality. You shed a single tear.
