Today we are introducing some revised site rules, firstly
Uploading Rules
* Conversions of original game content between competing game titles are not allowed (eg. GTR -> rFactor)
* Backwards conversions of original game content from the latest releases to older games by the same maker are not allowed (eg. GTR Evo -> GTR2)
* Forward conversions of original game content from older games to the latest releases are allowed (eg. GTL -> GTR Evo)
* Scratch built content by modders is allowed (shoudl be obvious but someone will ask)
* Taking the work of another modder, making very small changes then releasing it as your own is not allowed, whether its across games or not.
To go with the new uploading rules are some new
Forum Rules
* No posting links to game addons that we would not allow here (this includes indirect links to sites that host them)
* No hinting you have the links and will PM them to people
* No begging for said links to be PM'd to yourself
* No adding links to said downloads or sites that host them in your signature or other part of your user profile
These new rules also apply to any previous file uploads and to older forum topics / posts / user signatures etc. If you have previously posted any file or link which contravenes these new rules, no action will be taken other than to remove the offending item - this will be happening over the next days..
And a reminder of some current rules
* No spamming/trolling/flaming.
* No personal attacks on other members.
* No rude/abusive usernames, keep it clean or expect your account to get deleted.
It's apparent from skimming the forums that too much leeway has been given by the staff, and quite a few people need a kick up the backside to remind them that this isn't a free for all.
