Morinad #2515 Hi everyone,
there have been alot of things happening since i was away, alot of speculations, lies and confusion. I guess i 1st start with Tasos "Cheaters banned" thread and give it the missing salt.
PART I: In reply to "Cheaters banned today" on the official forums.
Quote:
We banned 213 cheaters today. These are the people using 3rd party programs to cheat with. They were not banned for macroing, they were banned for cheating. They were automatically detected and also verified manually in a variety of ways. This number represents 90% of the cheaters in Darkfall right now.
Complete lie. We have more than 600 active users using the Darkfall Content we provide which generate a total traffic or more than 3 Gigabyte Downstream Traffic in just 6 days with more than 6000 connects. (See screenshot for proof.)
To me that means they banned a grand total of 35% and not 90% IF those people were all just using our content (not taking competitors into account). Judging from the marketing activity of other sites i guess we maybe own a total of 40-60% when it comes to Darkfall Cheats. So there are maybe a total of 1600 Users cheating - that isnt really a high number in a game with more than 50.000 subscribers...
Do i really need to comment on this any more ?

They took the word of the makers of these hacks over the word of the creators and administrators of the game. There are no exceptions. We don’t care if journalists, clan leaders, or our friends are among them. They were cheating in order to gain an unfair advantage over the rest of us. They deserve to be banned.
Do you really wonder why people take my word over yours ? You keep lying so obviously it almost makes me laugh how easy it is to proof you are lying. But yes, we are cheating bastards and we deserve to be banned if we get caught - but maybe you should focus on getting more bandwidth and servers, a tech support forum and focus more professionality. Maybe then people will take your word again.

We will keep aggressively detecting and banning players that cheat in the game. If you’re not running 3rd party cheats, you have nothing to worry about. Those that don’t take our word for it, will be banned like those banned today.
Yeah keep it up. 35% is better than nothing. You are obviously not after the money since fixing abnormal movements shouldnt be harder than "detecting" them. So you'll develope a way to detect teleporting & speedhack but you don't just add a line of code to put them back into the place where they started it ? Your company is so unprofessional with all that lying, patching on weekends, forum accounts that aint connected to game accounts. And you still wonder why people think you are full of crap. Silly...

If you cheat in the game, you will lie about it too.
You don't expect people to report themself do you ?
PART II: Facts
- They banned only a minority of our community. To me this indicates they can detect teleporting/speedhack - basically all abnormal movements.
- At the point where the banwave started there was no client-side detection.
PART III: Future of the DF Content
There is currently only one thing that i'll have an issue with - the moral thing when someone gets banned using our content. One solution would be kicking out all features i consider "could be detected". That means we would remove teleporting, directional teleporting, the speedhacks, sticky function and everything else that affects movements in the game or server-side mechanics.
However i already know our competitors ads once we do that "DAMNCheaters sucks, cant even teleport" and such. I therefore decided to rewrite our modules for DF. So this weekend i will release a Physics version with definitly undetected and only client-side features. The Teleporter and the old Physics version will be tagged as "DETECTED" so everyone knows using those modules can get you banned.
As the DF servers are currently still down (If you dont know if it's weekend or not look just check the DF servers are up) i was not able yet to check for any client-side detections again. Technically they could have implemented something while i was away but as stated in Part I they only banned a fraction of the subscribers so there could be no client-side detection at that point. Otherwise everyone of our users would have been banned and that's simply not the case.
I advise everyone who is still playing/active on cheating in DF to wait until the "secure" version of Physics is up. I'm cleaning up the forums a bit and close/move speculations/threads with confusion. Please direct everyone who says something else/thinks different about this to this thread and let them reply/ask questions here.
