    Gomes
    8.0
Hardly tested in the first-half except for a cross by Abate which he plucked out of the air. Produced two stunning saves in the second half to deny Yepes what looked like certain goals.

    Benoit Assou-Ekotto
    7.5
Subdued going forward but his primary job was to defend as Tottenham looked to stay tight. Worked well in tandem with Pienaar and did not give Milan a sniff down his side of the field.

    William Gallas
    7.5
Hardly tested in the first-half as Milan struggled to get a grip on the game. Alongside Dawson the Frenchman was composed and he used his experience to help Tottenham claim the clean sheet.

    Michael Dawson
    8.0
The Tottenham captain was assured in defence and cleared everything that came his way. Not the testing evening he probably expected but he kept his concentration along with all his teammates. Produced a great block in the dying seconds to deny Robinho.

    Vedran Corluka
    7.5
Solid performance in defence from the Croatian and when in possession he was quick to find Crouch with long range passes. His evening was cut short after being on the receiving end of Flamini's awful two footed challenge.

    Steven Pienaar
    7.5
Preferred on the left to in form Niko Kranjcar and did the job Harry Redknapp asked him to do. Tracked back well to help out Assou-Ekotto to provide excellent defensive cover. Did not have the impact going forward he would have liked bt worked hard with and without the ball for his side. Replaced by Kranjcar.

    Sandro
    7.5
Assured performance from the Brazilian. he is starting to show everyone why Harry Redknapp did his utmost to bring him to White Hart Lane. Always willing to receive the ball and passed the ball efficiently to get his side moving forward. Also shielded his defence well alongfide Palacios.

    Wilson Palacios
    7.5
Was nuisance to Milan's midfielders all night. He closed down Milan's midfielders and forwards quickly. Shielded the defence superbly. Given more to think about when Pato came on at half-time but stayed in position and broke up play.

    Aaron Lennon(Top of the Match)
    9.0
Very lively performance on the right from the England winger. He terrorised Antonini with his pace and got past him at nearly every attempt. Tottenham's number seven reminded everyone of the talents he posses with his run from the half-way line and used his pace to beat Yepes. He then had the composure to roll the ball to Crouch for Tottenham's goal.

    Rafael Van der Vaart
    8.0
Tottenham looked to get their Dutch play maker on the ball at every opportunity and when he got the opportunity on the ball he did not disappoint. He showed some magical skills in the first-half and was always a threat with his vision and first time passing. Threatened the replacement goalkeeper with a couple of long range efforts and a delicate chip which had the keeper beaten all ends up and only just sailed past the post. Replaced by Luka Modric after 62 minutes.

    Peter Crouch
    8.5
Was Tottenham's main target when they won the ball. The England striker looked to pull away to the far post at every opportunity and one his fair share of balls in the air. He was a constant problem for the Milan defenders with his height. Looked a touch isolated when Milan managed to stop Tottenham's crosses into the box but proved an awkward customer for the Italian side all evening. Run himself into the ground for the Tottenham cause and was rewarded with the vital goal.

     Substitutions
    Jonathan Woodgate

Brought on for his first taste of first-team action as a second-half replacement for the injured Corluka. Made one important block on a shot from Robinho.

    Niko Kranjcar
    6.0
Given 15 minutes to try and break the deadlock and Spurs did manage to get the goal they so craved while he was on the field, but this time he wasn't involved.

    Luka Modric
    6.5
Struggled to get into the game after being out for the past two weeks with injury but will be better for the 30 minutes on the field. Will be a key past of Tottenham's plans in the second leg.
