1. Go to 'C:\Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents\CAPCOM\RESIDENT EVIL and open config.ini file.
2. Find the part [SOUNDS] and change 'ReverbQuality' to HIGH and 'CategoryEQ' to OFF.
And you're done. It worked for me so hope works for everyone else.
P.S. : I installed the DirectX from the game disk before making the change on the file.
