    Highly promising French keeper Hugo Lloris has gone into detail over why exactly it was that he decided to sign for Lyon.

    Last week Milan were believed to be strong favourites to capture the 21-year-old, with some reports even going as far as claiming that the deal had already been done.

    In the end, the now ex Nice keeper ultimately opted to pass on the chance to play in Italy, England or Spain, however, by agreeing a long-term deal for the record French champions.

    "I didn't choose Lyon because Gregory Coupet has left, but because of the plan they have for the future," Lloris said to Nogomania.

    "They also want to win the Champions League in the next four seasons and are planning to build a new stadium for around 60,000 spectators.

    "In every way, Lyon are going to be one of the best European clubs in the next three or four years.

    "I was also very pleased with the way they were after me. They wanted me badly and that was nice to hear.

    "It was even nicer to hear from Coupet that I'm a good replacement for him. I'm really honoured.

    "Of course, Milan were a great opportunity for me," he added. "We all Know what Milan are, one of the best clubs in the world.

    "But everything got complicated about my role in the club. They couldn't guarantee that I will play on a regular basis. And they have six goalkeepers at Milan so that tells you everything.

    "In the end, Lyon came in for me and this club were my big wish. I want to win Ligue 1 and I think this was the best step for my career so far.

    "I also had an offer from Tottenham, which I refused. If you would go abroad, you would sign for Milan. Milan are Milan and Tottenham can't compare with that.

    "I also had an offer in December from Atletico Madrid, but I didn't want to go to Spain as there are no French players at that club."

    Claude Puel, a Lyon újonnan kinevezet vezetőedzője azon lesz, hogy a klub ne váljon meg Sebastien Squilaccitól. A 27 éves középső védőt egyébként a Sevilla vinné el, és a legutóbbi hírek szerint igen közel áll hozzá.
    Puel viszont aggódásának adott hangot, mivel a francia Eb-keretben helyet kapó futballista a brazil Cris mögött a második számú belső hátvéd, így a távozása nagy érvágás lenne a védőhiányban szenvedő hétszeres francia bajnok számára.

    Jól is teszi Puel hogy nemengedi el:)
