After Leveling a Scoundrel (all Light) to lvl 50 (last build) and Leveling a Vanguard (all Dark) to lvl 50 (this build), it has changed my mind on the Advanced Class system. Before yesterday I thought the Advanced Class system was Great. I was thinking that I would Create one of each AC come live and I would have One part of the AC light and the other Dark then I would get to see all the story lines. Now I realize that there really is no point story wise going either Light or Dark, It's almost exactly the same.
So this got me thinking what's the point of the Advanced Class system. Then I remembered how much fun I had in rift with all the different spec's I could play for each class. By lvl 50 in rift I bought all 5 talent alternate specs for my rogue so I could tank, dps or support on a whim and I changed specs on average 2 or 3 times per hour to whatever game play was funnest for the area I was in or the team I was with. I thought it's too bad they couldn't do something like that here. It was the best part of rift next to it's amazingly streamlined intuitive interface( At least that's what I thought, there could be better out there).
And I Realized that this game is almost identical to rift that way because there is actually 5 Trees for each Class. All BW would really have to do is get rid of the Barrier preventing players from playing as they want when they want. This might actually remove the awkwardness of the shared tree and it could be tuned to be even stronger for pvp.
For me Variety is what keeps me playing. I hate going onto a game and playing it exactly the same way all the time. I know some people are built that way where they love to do it the same way all the time. Just not me.
If they don't change the way Advanced Classes work. Will it affect me buying the game. No. This is a excellent game. It is shaping up to be Top notch in almost every regard. I just want to see the game be all that it can be.
