I think the game plays so much better without the DLC. I installed a patch to update transfers/kits etc - and it came with the DLC. Superstar played so arcade-like it was just terrible. Remember the direct passes when the CPU "clears" the ball straight to their teammate everytime? Yes, that came back ala PES 13. Through balls were absolutely the only way the CPU could score - and expose my defense. It was ridiculous.
So I deleted 2 files from the DLC. Verified it was gone. Went in game and yes my files were unable to be loaded since I didn't have the DLC anymore - no big deal, I want gameplay. Immediately saw a difference.
Played Inter v Torino. Torino played nervously - passing through the back, being pressured well all over the pitch. They opted for the long ball that went to noone. My passing was just as suspect though at times, but eventually took advantage of some nice build up for the first goal, then a crossing goal off the set piece to finish the match 2-0. A very rewarding game.
Next game, I played as Olymique Marseille v AZ. AZ tried to play on the ground, but their passing was off in the defensive third. They opted for counter attacking option, but I had Jordan Ayew on the break multiple times to expose that. The CPU changed things up and started going down the flanks - but their crosses were intercepted/cleared by a sure line. The match finished 3-3 however. Ayew took advantage of two terrible passes through the back and raced away for 2 goals, while AZ's strikers were on form with their 1-2 touches to open up my defense. Mananda tried to keep shots out - but the follow up was there.
Overall - I think the game needs to be played without the DLC. It doesn't feel like a placebo at all. You can tell a difference when the CPU's passing is off and when you are feeling cheated. I noticed the pace of play was also slowed down without the DLC, but still a necessity to keep aware of the runs off the ball. "
