Roberto Mancini's Agent Refutes Chelsea Link

The former Inter boss will not be taking over at Chelsea, his agent has today confirmed.

Following the sacking of Luiz Felipe Scoalari as Chelsea manager today, the agent of former Inter Milan coach Roberto Mancini has refuted rumours linking his client with the vacant position at Stamford Bridge.

Giorgio de Giorgis earlier told Sky Sports News that there had been no contact between the west London club and his client, with him believing that the Blues had turned their attention elsewhere in the hunt for a successor to 'Big Phil'.

"No one has contacted us," the agent is reported by Sky as telling the Italian media.

"Hence I rule out the possibility that Mancini will go to Chelsea.

"We are aware of Scolari's sacking, but they would have contacted us if they had thought about him [Mancini].

    "Instead, they have contacted others."

Speculation concerning a new coach at Stamford Bridge has been rife in the relatively short space of time since Chelsea confirmed Scolari's departure, with names such as West Ham United manager Gianfranco Zola, and former Chelsea manager, the man replaced by Scolari, Avram Grant, being touted as possibilities alongside the name of Mancini.

To complicate matters, Grant is also being strongly linked with a return to management at Portsmouth, a club where he has previously worked in other roles, who today sacked their manager Tony Adams.
