AC Milan do enough against Lecce
    tribalfootball.com - November 27, 2005

Pippo Inzaghi grabbed AC Milan's winner against battling Lecce yesterday.

Substitute Inzaghi found the net in the second minute of injury time to ensure the Rossoneri lost no more ground in what is already a faltering pursuit of leaders Juventus.

Earlier, Axel Konan looked like he had salvaged a point for Lecce after Andrea Pirlo's opener for the hosts, who lost to Fiorentina in Serie A last weekend but had partially redeemed themselves with a 4-0 thrashing of Fenerbahce in Istanbul in a midweek Champions League match.

Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti said afterwards: "I think it's crucial that a player takes his exclusion from the starting 11 with the right attitude, and that is to be fired up.

"Pirlo has an incredible way of taking free kicks now and he's fairly unique with that particular style. It's the third time he's done this now, with the ball dipping mercilessly at the right moment. We had played a great first half and our only mistake was being unable to create a bigger advantage. We were tired from the midweek game, and the team was clearly less effective after the break."

The tactician also had praise for left-back Serginho, who is adapting to his new role, although he went off with a knee injury.

"I think Serginho is on better form than Roberto Carlos at the moment and can both attack and defend. The Selecao don't seem to care about him, which is all the better for Milan."
