A topic pókos szekciója félig-meddig tőlem indult. Előre elbizonytalaníthatok mindenkit, mert a képet e-mailben kaptam a leírással együtt (szóval az eredeti forrás ismeretlen).
Ám gondoltam, ha ennyi mindenkit érdekel, akkor kutakodok egy kicsit utánna az Interneten.

"According to most spider experts, these claims are all false. Camel spiders (so named because, like camels, they can be found in sandy desert regions) grow to be moderately large (about a 5" leg span), but nowhere near as large as dinner plates; they can move very quickly in comparison to other arthropods (a top speed of maybe 10 MPH), but nothing close 25 MPH; they make no noise; and they capture prey without the use of either venom or anesthetic. Camel spiders rely on speed, stealth, and the (non-venomous) bite of powerful jaws to feed on small prey such as other arthropods (e.g., scorpions, crickets, pillbugs), lizards, and possibly mice or birds. Nekem ezek az oldalak hitelesnek tűnnek. Az eredmény:
- mérete: dinner plate (lapos tányér)
- sebesség: 10 MPH (16 km/h)
- ugrás: several feet in the air (néhány láb magasra ugrik)
- mérgező-e, érzéstelenítőt használ-e: without the use of either venom or anesthetic (tehát nem mérgező és nem használ érzéstelenítőt se),
- harapás: powerful jaws (erős harapású)
- hang: no noise (tehát nem ad hangot)
- árnyék szerető: shun the sun (menekül a nap elől).
Tehát 7 szempontból 2 nem volt valós az eredeti leírásban. Ezért a kettőért, sorry. Nem szoktam ellenőrizni a forrást.
