"Dmitry Rogozin, Russia's deputy prime minister, has acknowledged that the construction of surface ships for the Russian Navy has "idled" due to the non-delivery of gas turbine engines from Ukraine, RIA Novosti reported 3 June.
The situation has affected, among others, the Project 11356M-class frigate Admiral Grigorovich and the Project 22350-class frigate Admiral Gorshkov , currently under construction but destined for Russia's Black Sea Fleet.
Meanwhile, Russia's import substitution programme for ship engines and other units is ongoing and Russia will be able to produce its own gas turbine engines by 2018, the agency reported." (forras)
