Before any mad flaming gets started , I am writting this post to offer 1 theory on getting SF3 protected games working without unpluging/disabling ide devices.
I made a customized WinXP install with a tool called nlite.( http://nuhi.msfn.org/ ). While removing some usless crap from my install, I disabled SFC (File Protection),its a system file protection service. and anyway I have been able to play these SF3 games with out unpluging or disabling any CDrom on my system. ( I have 2 Burners on my system)
Just by mounting the samall Image in DTools.
Games that have worked fine for me are:-
Chaos League
Beyond Divinity
Both use the small iso trick. Now I think you can disable that service in XP without doing a full install. Could someone test out this and give me some feedback. Because If all I have to do is run a small iso to play a SF3 game that would be great.
To disable it in a already installed win XP, the service should be found in
Settings/control Panel/administrative tools/services.
(Reboot needed)
I hope this post helps people to be able to play these games as it did me. I will get D-Day soon and test that out, and post the results.
If at first you don't succeed,
Come back with a Gun
