This Panther was built at the Panther factory Maschinenfabrik
Niedersachsen-Hannover,Germany under the direction of the British Army REME.

It was number four of the Panthers and Jagdpanthers built by the British.
It was probably placed on a targetrange and then bought by a scrap merchant
in a War Department sale in the 1950’s and remained
in his scrap yard in Surrey, England,
until it was discovered in October 1977. It was then recovered,
in a badly damaged and incomplete state, and transported to Germany.
It has since been restored to running order.

In 2015 it was forcefully transported and taken away by police, after the owner was accused of owning Nazi-looted art and the Panther was damaged in the process.
