    SMOOTHVISION™ 2.0
This technology provides new levels of image quality with advanced full-scene anti-aliasing (FSAA) and anisotropic filtering. That is, this technology enhances image quality by removing jagged edges and bringing out fine texture detail, without compromising performance. Floating-point color precision allows for a greater range of colors and brightness.
    2x/4x/6x full scene anti-aliasing modes
Adaptive algorithm with programmable sample patterns
    2x/4x/8x/16x anisotropic filtering modes
Adaptive algorithm with bi-linear (performance) and tri-linear (quality) options
    HYPER Z™ III
The third generation of ATI's innovative, bandwidth saving HYPERZ technology, HYPERZ III plays a pivotal role in allowing the RADEON 9700 to reach unprecedented levels of rendering performance. As well as making improvements to the three components of HYPERZ I & II ( Hierarchical Z, Z Compression, and Fast Z Clear), HYPERZ III adds a new component called Early Z Test.
    3-level Hierarchical Z-Buffer with early Z test
Lossless Z-Buffer compression (up to 24:1)
    Fast Z-Buffer Clear
    TRUFORM™ 2.0
The latest incarnation of ATI's innovative higher order surface technology. It is designed to smooth out the curved surface of 3D characters, objects, and terrain by increasing the polygon count through a process called "tessellation". By taking advantage of the massive vertex processing power of the RADEON 9700, it delivers more natural looking 3D scenes without requiring any changes to existing artwork.
2nd generation N-Patch higher order surface support
Discrete and continuous tessellation levels per polygon
    Displacement mapping
