Q. How will the less armored careers such as casters and ranged characters stay out of melee range with the reduced crowd-control (CC) emphasis in WAR? We have seen some examples of this so far with the Squig Herders paralysing arrow and the Bright Wizards pyro daze. What other abilities do you think will help players maintain their distance?
A. It's not that there's no CC in WAR, it's that’s it’s reduced in such that, we don't want one player affecting huge groups of players. We don't want situations like in DAoC where one class could come in AoE, stun and reign hell on an entire group. That being said, every ranged class will have a way of getting out of combat. Every melee class will have ways of keeping people in combat. For example the Engineer to get out of combat, has a situational flash bang grenade or spanner where he can drop it on the ground, stun the enemy for a brief period of time, and as long as he doesn't attack, he can get a couple steps away. However he can't use that in every fight so you'll use that tactic a lot more strategically. The game is really there for co-op play. You want a tank there taking damage. You want a Black Orc throwing someone out of your way so you can keep attacking.
