British 303.Observer: Observer rounds were a British alternative to tracers. Instead of illuminating the fight path of the round, Observer rounds break up on impact creating a large visible puf, making it easy to see when you’ve hit your mark. Observer rounds, however, cause virtually no damage to their targets.
