Galliani: Berlusconi backing AC Milan coach Ancelotti

AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani insists he has never discussed coach Carlo Ancelotti's job with patron Silvio Berlusconi.

Berlusconi refused to look beyond this season when discussing Ancelotti's future last week, but Galliani said: "The president has simply made public the things that with me in private he has always said.

"Ancelotti never has been under threat, neither after Istanbul, neither at the beginning of this season.

"We ended the last season twice vice champions, in the championship and Champions League. Those results show that we are the premier team of Europe."

Maldini:
„Ha csak az eredményt nézzük, úgy tûnik, mintha nehéz mérkõzés lett volna, de lõhettünk volna 7-8 gólt. Kellemetlen, hogy a Regginának a meccs végén sikerült gólt szerezni. Az ilyen dolgokat kell elkerülnünk. Boldog vagyok, mert úgy gondolom, hogy jobban játszottam, mint azt bárki elvárta volna tõlem. És gólt szereztem. Kettõt is! Abban nem vagyok biztos, hogy csapatként ez lenne a csúcs a számunkra. Napról napra jobbak vagyunk. Játék közben sokat birtokoltuk a labdát, és úgy gondolom, kettõnél több gólt is lõhettünk volna. A végsõ sípszóig figyelnünk kell, és soha nem adhatjuk fel. Nemsokára szuperek leszünk.”

Ancelotti:
„Jól játszottunk és 3 ponttal lettünk gazdagabbak. Csapatként és egyénileg is fejlõdtünk. Kettõnél többször is betalálhattunk volna. Ezzel nem vagyok megelégedve, fõleg ha gólt kapunk. Nagyon boldog vagyok Paolo Maldini miatt, és úgy gondolom, õ is büszke lehet magára. Jól játszott, és igazi bajnokként oldotta meg a feladatát. Vogelról el kell mondanom, hogy nem olyan, mint Pirlo. Vogel tudja, hogy hogyan és mikor kell passzolnia. Taktikailag egy vérbeli profi, és nagyon kevés hibát követ el. Megmutatta mindenkinek, hogy miért akartuk idehozni. Mindenki elég jól játszott. Hallottam, hogy Vieri nem boldog. de errõl nem vagyok meggyõzõdve. Nem úgy néz ki, mint aki egyre feszültebb, mert még nem talált be. Úgy gondolom, hogy jól játszott és sokat próbálkozott a mérkõzésen. Még nem volt eredményes, de nem hiszem, hogy ez gátolná a csapatot a legjobb teljesítmény elérésében. Mi lõttük az elsõ gól és végig irányításunk alatt tartottuk a mérkõzést. Vieri és Gilardino remekül kiegészíti a csapatot. Hat forduló után nem állunk rosszul. Talán nem rajtoltunk jól, de megmutattuk, hogy képesek vagyunk szépen focizni, és sok lehetõségünk van a tökéletesedére. Továbbá nem lehet elfelejteni, hogy Inzaghi, Jankulowski és Ambrosini október közepén visszatér. Nem aggódom. Egyáltalán nem.”

Vogel:
„Ez volt az elsõ teljes mérkõzésem. Néha nem könnyû olyan jól játszani, mint amit a szurkolók elvárnak tõlünk. Érzem, hogy a klub és a csapattársaim bíznak bennem, valamint kiérdemeltem a tiszteletüket. Úgy gondolom, hogy a Fenerbahce ellen nem játszottam jól, de tegnap jobb voltam. Nem vagyok csúcsformában, mert nem játszom túl gyakran, de tegnap elég jó teljesítményt nyújtottam. Maldini két gólt szerzett, aminek nagyon örülök. Remélem, még javulni fogok és továbbra is pályára léphetek. Tudom, hogy nehéz bekerülni egy olyan csapatba, ahol ennyi nagyszerû játékos vesz körül. Vieri jól játszott, és volt néhány lehetõsége. Még nem talált be a kapuba, de ha kitartóan próbálkozik és ilyen jól játszik, nemsokára megszerzi elsõ gólját.”

Sheva:
„Mint ahogy a többiek, én is nagyon örülök Paolo két fantasztikus góljának. Maldini a térdsérülése miatt egy borzalmas idõszakon ment keresztül, és most boldog lehet, mert õ a klub gyõztes szimbóluma. Jól játszottunk, és szükségünk volt erre a 3 pontra. Fárasztó meccs volt, mivel szerdán Németországban játszottunk, és Ancelotti ezen a meccsen is a legjobb játékosokat küldte pályára. Tetszett Vogel játéka. Egy svájci újságíró mondta nekem, hogy egy nagyon jó játékos, aki mindig a legjobbat nyújtja. Úgy gondolom most láthattuk, hogy mire képes. Vieri egy kicsit csalódott, mivel nem sikerült gól lõnie, de ha továbbra is így játszik, akkor hamarosan eredményes lesz.”

Az olasz bajnokság szünetében sem tétlenkednek a Milan labdarúgói, hiszen 13 játékos került be a nemzeti csapata keretébe.

MILANO - Rino Gattuso stated: 'It is quite a strange feeling to see Paolo scoring twice in a game, after some thought that he might have had to retire due to his knee problems. I am very happy for him and for what he did today. And I think we did show how much we improved as a team. Paolo Maldini is our captain and our leader. He still can teach us a lot of things to all of us. As for me, I'm well. I thank the club that supported me even during a tough period. I'm mad because it looks like I forgot how to score. Maybe I should use my hands, but I am not sure it would help either. I have to thank Mauro Tassoti, the assistant coach, for his help and advice. Vieri? Well, he has been unlucky today. But if he keeps playing like he did, we are going to score a lot...'

SHEVA: 'I'm happy for Paolo'

MILANO - These are Sheva's first words right after the game against Reggina: 'I am happy for Paolo. We all are. He scored two fantastic goals. Paolo went through a terrible period because of his injured knees. And now we are very happy for him, because he is the true winning symbol of this club. We played well, we needed those three points. It has been a tough match, considering the we played in Germany on Wednesday. And Ancelotti lined the best players up on the pitch this afternoon. I liked Vogel. A Swiss journalist had told me that he is a very good player, always ready to give his best for his team. And I think that we saw what the guy can do. I think that Vieri might be a little upset because he did not score. But if he keeps playing like this, he will score soon.'

VIERI: 'I could have kept shooting for two more days'

MILANO - No goals so far. But a good game for Christian Vieri. 'I shot on goal maybe twenty times. Without scoring. And I could have kept doing it for two more days and the ball would not have gone in. But I think that it is important that we keep on trying. We are dangerous in the box. Sooner or later I'm going to score. Is there anything else left to say about Paolo Maldini? He is a record breaker and still going strong. I think he has five or six years still left in him.'

VOGEL: 'It was a good game'

MILANO - Johann Vogel, started his first game for AC Milan and he did quite well. After the game, he stated to Milan Channel: 'It was my first complete game. Sometimes it is not easy to play as well as the demanding fans require us to do. I felt that the club and my teammates trusted me and that I earned their respect. I think that I did not play that well against Fenerbache, but I did play better today. I'm not in top shape because I don't get to play that often, but I think I did well enough today. Maldini scored two goals and I am very happy for him. Now my hope is to keep improving and keep playing. I came here to play, even though I know that it is tough to find playing time among such great players as my teammates are. I think Vieri played well. He had a couple of chances. He has not scored yet, but if he keeps trying and keeps playing this well he'll soon score his first goal for us'.

ANCELOTTI: 'Good game, well played by everybody. Maldini is a champion.'

MILANO - This is Carlo Ancelotti's point of view, after the game against Reggina: 'We played well and win gained the three points. I think we improved overall. As a team and individually. I think we could have scored more than just two goals. I'm not that ok with the fact that they scored against us. I'm very happy for Paolo Maldini, instead. I think he must be happy himself. He is playing well and he is managing his personal situation like the true champion he is. As for Vogel, let me say that he is not like Pirlo. Vogel knows how to pass and knows when to pass. Tactically he is a master, he makes very few mistakes. I think he showed everybody why we wanted him here. I think we all played quite well. I've heard that Vieri was not happy. I am not sure about this. He doesn't look like the type of players who gets mad because he does not score. I think he played well and he puts a lot of effort in the game. It is true that he did not score. But I do not think that he prevented the team from playing at their best. I think AC Milan are showing some killer instect that lacked last season. We score first and we control the game. Vieri and Gilardino have been huge add-ons to this team. After six games, I think we did well. Maybe we have not sprinted from the very beginning like last year. But we did show that we can play a good football and we have lots of room for improvement. And don't forget: Inzaghi, Jankulowski and Ambrosini will be back by mid October. I'm not worried. Not at all.'

SEEDORF: 'The reverse? Too bad I could not score'

MILANO - Clarence Seedorf played another great game against Reggina this afternoon. 'I am sorry that the football did not go in, when I tried to score with that revers shot at the end of the game. To be honest, I did try to score. It is a kind of shot that I practice a lot on, during the week. I had tried that already once in a Champions League match. I think that I might score at the third attempt. This win is huge for us. We need to put points up on the board. And this win is going to be even more important if Inter can manage to stop Juventus to go further ahead of us in the standings. I am very happy for Maldini. Scoring two goals is not something that he does that often. The bottom line is that we won, though. Thanks to Paolo's goals. But don't be too surprised if and when he scores. Paolo is very good at striking from behind, adding more power to our offense.'

MALDINI: 'We are improving'

MILANO - Paolo Maldini stated right after the game: 'I'm happy. I think that I'm playing much better that anybody could have expected. And today, I even scored. Twice! I am not sure that we have reached our peak as a team. We are improving, day after day. We play a lot of possessions. And I think we could have scored more than two goals, only. I think that if we stay focused till the final whistle and we never give up we are going to be super!'
