"(My thoughts on OPERATION: BLACK DAWN)
I grabbed this. For a free game...it's not too bad.
As a game that claims to be a "tactical shooter exceeding today's FPS standards" it's a piece of shit.
The voice acting...the script is terrible, they set up Havoc to be badass and he comes off as an asshole who's got his head up his arse. (Though, I will say, the 'grenade golf' scene was entertaining.)
I haven't fiddled with UDK in a while but the maps feel too small. (I mean, when you hit the beach you hit a loading screen straight out.)
The guns feel okay, the modelling of the guns is okay...not the best but not bad, true to Renegade. There are no facial animations which makes for...amusing cutscenes. (Takes me back to playing with dolls)
The AI is good if it were 2000. The enemies run...actually, they don't run, they stand there and take the beating. (I played up to the escort mission and promptly got clusterfucked by all the AI vehicles. Maybe the game gets magically better...dunno)"
