On Nvidia cards, the procedure to force FSAA is a little bit more complicated. One has to modify the driver profile Star Wars: The Old Republic with Nvidia Inspector or another tool with the same capability (the profile is already present in the latest Nvidia drivers so upgrade or create your own profile if you're using older drivers):
Set Antialiasing compatibility for that profile to 0x0000F0C1 (seems to work the best so far)
Set Antialiasing - Behavior Flags to None
Set Antialiasing - Mode to Override any Application setting
Set Antialiasing - Setting to your desired FSAA mode (2x, 4x, 8x, 16x, etc.)
Set Antialiasing Transparency - Multisampling or Antialiasing Transparency - Supersampling according to your preferences as well.
Here is a screenshot of Nvidia inspector with an example of settings that work for the more visual types:

On a side note, it's an additional good improvement to force 16x or 8x Anisotropic Filtering as well.
