AC Milan, Juventus battle for Ajax's De Jong
tribalfootball.com - December 27, 2005
AC Milan and Juventus are stepping up their bids for Ajax midfielder Nigel de Jong this week.
Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has been urged to try for De Jong after speaking with Holland coach Marco van Basten about the youngster's ability.
De Jong is off contract in the summer and wants a move to a bigger competition.
Juve director general Luciano Moggi has a good relationship with De Jong's agent, Mino Raiola, who has already brought Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Emerson and Pavel Nedved to Turin.
Moggi is expected to hold talks with Raiola leading up to January 1, when De Jong will be free to sign a pre-contract with a rival club.
