AC Milan step up interest for Villarreal's Rodriguez

AC Milan are stepping up their interest in Villarreal defender Gonzalo Rodriguez.
The Argentina international is the new priority defensive target for Milan transfer guru Ariedo Braida after Real Madrid secured an option on Sao Paulo defender Cicinho on Tuesday.
Rodriguez is also a target for Palermo and Juventus, which has had Antonio Conte scout the 24 year-old in Champions League action this month.
Braida is weighing up a shock move for Rodriguez, who gained his Italian passport recently, before the summer transfer window shuts as concerns continue over the ability of veteran Paolo Maldini to meet Milan's demanding schedule this campaign.
