Hungary 1-4 Brazil
Brazil beat Hungary for the first time tonight in front of 46,000 supporters at the Ferenc Puskás stadium in Budapest.
Proud heritage
The Hungarians have twice had the better of the South Americans in FIFA World Cups and 19 years ago defeated them 3-0 while preparing for Mexico '86. However, it was Brazil who ran out winners by a three-goal margin this evening, Kaká, Luis Fabiano (twice) and Ronaldinho on target.
Powerful drive
Lothar Matthäus' side were the equal of the South Americans in the opening third of the match, Krisztián Kenesei going close with a free-kick saved by Dida in the 25th minute. Dida's AC Milan team-mate Kaká struck first eight minutes later with a powerful drive which capped off a swift counterattack.
Fine last touch
Although Brazil quickly increased their advantage through Fabiano's strikes in the 36 and 45th minutes, Hungary came out fighting after the interval and Zoltán Gera really should have reduced arrears from close range. In the 56th minute Kenesei did just that, only for Ronaldinho of FC Barcelona to complete the scoring with his final touch."
