    04/13/2004. Manchester United have rubbished speculation from Spain that Ruud Van Nistelrooy could be joining Barcelona in the summer.

    The Dutchman signed a five-year contract with United in January and hasn't suggested that he is looking to leave Old Trafford.

    "The talk that Ruud might be leaving this summer is rubbish," said a United spokesman.

    "Why would the club have gone to such great efforts to negotiate a new contract if he wasn't going to stay."

    The former PSV Eindhoven striker has netted 106 goals in less than three years since joining United.
