We had our UR Mod, Isoo, translate the news as given on the Chinese sites, and this is what he found they are all talking about:

Moonshadow (www.worldofms.net) had an interview with the NCSoft Developers, February 6, 2004, about their long term plans for Lineage II; and highlights from that interview are as follows:

    Long Term Goals

    1) In March, Chronicle 1 will go live for Taiwan. There will be 12 Chronicles in all by the time NCSoft is done. As you know, Korea closed their Open Beta and went live with the Chronicle 1 Patch. All Chronicles will be released over a long period of time. Twice a year they will do major overhauls by raising level caps, adding higher content, etc. They also will be adding underwater cities and flying vehicles.

    2) Presently their emphasis has been on solo play and they will be shifting their design towards team orientated play. They also will be looking at the Archers again and how they level and gain xp faster than any other professions, and adjusting them. We will also see more game balancing, tweaks and nerfing coming shortly.

    3) Personal Rides: NCSoft has plans to add more personal vehicles in addition to dragons in the future. They are also adding more pets and want to add air vehicles eventually too.

    3) Third Tier Classes: Lineage II right now has First and Second Tier Professions. For example, you have the Human Mage, First Tier is Cleric and a Second Tier is Bishop. NCSoft is planning on working and developing Third Tier Classes. Players on the Korean server are reaching levels +70; so NCSoft wants to add these higher level classes to make sure the game keeps growing for players.

Patch Highlights from Chronicle 1 (as given on the Chinese Site):

    1) NCSoft is reducing the graphic polygon count from 3000 to 700 pts per character. They do not expect much change visually and their estimate is that you can have 500-600 players participating in castle sieges because of this reduction.

    2) Character Balance: Silver Ranger received a run speed boost.

    3) Dragons - added ability to raise Hatchlings. (Note: Striders and Wyverns are not in the game yet and will be added in later episodes.) They also have added into the game foods for the Hatchlings.

    4) Added 15 new sets of armor. When you kill bosses you can obtain the higher level eqpt and added new B class weapons.

    5) Clan Hideouts (also known in other games as PA Halls, Guild Houses): Normally each city has ~15 clan hideouts. Each clan hideout comes with it's own private hunting grounds available only to clan members. It also will have its own teleport ability so a player can teleport to it anywhere on the map. There are two possible ways to acquire clan hideouts: beating a named boss in game and/or you can auction for it. To auction for one, an NPC will have the Clan Hideout up for bid and the Opening Bid amount is set at 5 million adena. The weekly update to keep a Clan House is 100K adena.

    6) Gludin and Giran will have PvP arenas. These arenas will have no karma penalties.
