"Clean racing" replay league is already available at
http://www.gametimesonline.com/times/cmr4democlean
The rules are as follows:
A run is considered clean if a player doesn't use any shortcuts or
teleports or wall-sliding or performance cheats.
1. A shortcut is defined as driving around a guarded object so that it's
put between the car and the route of the stage.
2. Guarded objects are trees, straw bales, advertising boards, fences,
marker tapes, sign posts, rocks and all solid objects.
3. Solid objects are trees, straw bales, advertising boards, fences, sign
posts, rocks and any objects that you cannot drive over or through. Bushes
are not included.
4. Wall and etc touching is allowed (1x hit) only if the car bounces, that
is if it has a single and very short <0.5 sec contact with an object.
This means wall-sliding as in this video:
http://www.gametimesonline.com/moviefiles/cmr04/wallslide.avi
is not allowed.
5. The only cheats allowed are ones that don't influence performance
(unlocking tracks, cars etc.)
Using any cheats that modify game physics or improve car performance will
result in an immediate ban.
6. A teleport is defined as leaving the road in a way that results in
making the car appear in another place without constant motion. Use of any
telports is prohibited.
Additional explanation
Cutting corners
Cutting corners is allowed where leaving the road allows a competitor to
take a faster line around a corner but they must still obey the shortcut
rule. (1)
Marker tapes
Marker tapes are on the list of Guarded objects (2). This means you can cut
tapes only if there's never a piece of tape BEETWEEN the CAR and ROAD. You
are able to drive OVER the tape, like I in this video:
http://www.gametimesonline.com/moviefiles/cmr04/tapecut.avi
,but never AROUND (through) the tape, like in this video:
http://www.gametimesonline.com/moviefiles/cmr04/tape_wrong.avi
This is not allowed
To compete you need to redownload and reinstall the GTO program (version
2.0.1 or newer) and switch the "Mode" selector to "Clean Racing". The
selector is located below the "Game:" selection box.
WARNING! Please make double sure your times obey the rules before you press
"Submit"! This will save the supervisors a lot of work...
How to get rid of your "dirty" times:
Method #1 - uninstall CMR04 completelly and reinstall
Method #2 - delete (or move to different folder) files:
- BESTTIMES_GHOSTS
- GhostReplay30
- GhostReplay41
- GhostReplay71
Repeatedly submiting invalid runs will result in deleting a player from the
competition!
How to view the ghosts
Just click the time you want to view. You will download a ZIP-packed file
with the ghost (named "GhostReplayXX"). Unpack the file into the CMR04 main
directory. Don't forget to backup your own ghost before doing that!
