I played CMR 05 demo. The car behaves rather realisticly. RBR will never reach this level of realism with its full multibody dynamics.
Real rally cars are set up such way that it does not matter if you go on gravel, tarmac or grass, but judging from the movies, in RBR they have bad suspension model so the car spins whenever you touch the grass with one wheel.
The phycics looks fake in RBR because the tyres stick to tarmac, and break loose only in very extreme situations. CMR5 simulates this correctly, the car is drifting subtly sideways even on slightest whell movement, but not over/steering understeering, which would give a headache for serious rally gamer.
Also catching the car after the turn seems overly complicated in RBR, CMR you control the direction of the car by turning the steering wheel to the side you wich car body to turn and applying gas. Once again realistic rally car suspension modelling smoothes the differences between different road surfaces or bumps, and adapts to car travel speed. RBR seem only to claim they use active differentials, CMR has it!
I only wish they remove the feature where sidebanks are slightly slowing down the car in the final version, fortunatelly they allign the car with the road correctly and you can keep your foot pedal to metal through most of the turns. But who wants to go slow, it is rally game you have to be driving fast, maybe even faster than in real life, but this is realistic too, as most of us are just better drivers than real rally drivers.
