Following erroneous and false information published about the match which Real Madrid played this summer in Hungary, the Club wishes to specify that:
# Real Madrid reached an agreement to play a friendly match in Hungary during their summer tour. Later the organisers, Trendsport, proposed to Real Madrid that the friendly match should also be an act of homage to the ex player Puskas and Real Madrid for this reason the accepted the proposition and rejected others with higher economic possibilities.
# Real Madrid asked the organisers to come to an agreement with the family of Puskas so that he would receive economic compensation. After the intervention of Real Madrid his family and the organisers came to an economic agreement which they both communicated to the club. The family took part in the acts which took place in connection with the match.
# In contrast to what has been published, the president of Real Madrid has not had any meetings or contact with the Hungarian Federation, organisers or members of the family. Moreover, it´s a fact that the president did not attend the match in Budapest.
# In contrast to what has been published, at no moment did FIFA intervene to oblige Real Madrid to give any donation whatsoever.
# Real Madrid for the last few years has been making a significant economic contribution to subsidise the expenses of the ex player. Real Madrid from September of the year 2000, took the decision to aid Puskas on a monthly basis. The economic aid, as homage to his commitment as a Madrid player, was sent via the Club Foundation and was put into a bank account in the name of the player and his wife Elizabeth Puskas.
