"From your description it seems like the same problem i had but im not totally positive. What i had to do was: install the patches in safe mode. So 1) reinstall the game 2) restart into safe mode and install the patch(es) in the safe mode ( keep pressing f8 when your computer is starting its gonna give you option for start in safe mode ) 3) restart again into regular mode and play. This worked for me, hope its gonna work for you too"
