With the occasion of the European exit of Game Servant boy Advance SP, Stéphan Bole, chairman of Nintendo France granted an interview to magazine JDLI:

- Which is the situation of Nintendo France today?

2002 were a good year for Nintendo in France. How do you hope to reassure the third editors and the distributors compared to these fears?

The third editors weigh more than 60% of the sales on GameCube, and in their best sales one finds Star Wars Rogue Squadron, Resident Evil, FIFA 2003, Medal of Honor, 007: Nightfire, etc... GameCube is addressed to all the players, and was plebiscity by the French core-gamers.

- is it true that certain third editors stopped the development of products for GameCube of fear of not reaching a break-even point?

In 2003, already 80 GameCube plays will be added to the range of the 100 existing plays. Among these plays one will find Product Number 03, Viewtiful Joe, Killer 7, Resident Evil 4 of Capcom, Ikaruga de Treasure/infogrames, SoulCalibur II of Namco, the new titles of Factor V (Rogue Squadron), without forgetting Final fantasy Chronicles. Some editors with policies of plays multi-formats hope to optimize their sales while concentrating on PS2 and GameCube, or PS2 and Xbox. It is not a question of in no case of a problem of profitability, since the cost of bearing on GameCube is marginal compared to the development cost of a play.

- Nintendo seems to encounter difficulties on many territories with GameCube. Which is the situation in the other countries (the United States, Japan, GB, Germany...) and why the world sales they with the height of waitings are not? Do you think that errors were made on the level design of the product, its positioning or sound line-up?

On a world level, the GameCube park precedes the Xbox park to date, even if if certain markets behave better than others. Our sales goal on the current year until the end of March 2003 was revised of 25% (from 12 to 9 million units in the world), which does not have anything dramatic on this market!

- Which is the degree of independence of Nintendo France compared to its head office? Can you work out a policy marketing and commercial independent and local?

Nintendo is obviously a total mark. As you can imagine it, certain decisions of mix marketing (price, produced hardware) are total, but others (publicity, marketing policy, merchandising) are more local.

- does Nintendo have the means of answering if Sony and/or Microsoft launches out in a price war even more violent than at the end of 2002?

Nintendo has the means of developing the installed base of Game Cube without returning in the destroying play of the battle of the prices. All the GameCube strategy will be based on the reinforcement of our strategy of differentiation with very great exclusive plays (Resident Evil Zero, Metroid Prime on March 21, Zelda on May 3, Final Fantasy Chronicles, Mario Kart...) and with connectivity with the GBA (Rayman 3, Legend of Zelda, and especially Pokémon which could be the killer app of this connectivity). For as much, that does not prevent us from launching very interesting offers like the bundle Metroid on March 21 to 199 €, in limited series.

- Which is the share of GameCube vs GBA and GBC in the sales turnover of Nintendo France and on a world level?

GameCube weighed more than 50% of CA of Nintendo France on the fiscal year in progress, which is also true on a world level.

- GameBoy Advance meets on the other hand a significant success. What happenhappen does exactly? Do you think of interesting a new fringe of consumer in the video games with GBA SP?

Itt látszik,hogy minden ember más😊Nekem például az FFX sztorija ezerszer jobban bejött mint a VII-nek a története.Sõt nekem már a VIII is jobban tetszett.Összeségében az FFX-et szeretem a legjobban mivel a karaktereknek itt egyszerûen fenomenális,hogy milyen élethû viselkedésük van ha lehet így mondani.Mintha személyiségük lenne meg minden.Komolyan mondom egy idõ után Auront már nem volt szívem lecserélni harcközben sem Wakkát😊Persze a szükség törvényt bontott de akkor is.Mondjuk a legzsírabb fõgonosz eddig szerintem is Sepritoth hiszen asszem az FFVII egyik (hanem a az összes FF szorozat legnagyobb) legkifinomultabb egyénisége volt.Bár hozzá tenném ,hogy városok terén és környezetre eddig az FFVII tetszett a legjobban.Na de ettõl még nekem az FFX -et nem ûbereli mert hát azért még is csak az a best.Dehát izlések és pofonok ugye bár és mindenkinek más a jó😊
