There were two major events
First, Jatt played on a team in both the USA and Canadaian WCG qualifiers, giving him two chances to end up on a team playing in Korea. This is against the rules. Once WCG found out about this, they punished Jatt by disqualifying him from the Canadaian team, the one that was already knocked out of the tournament. Obviously, this "punishment" literally had no affect on anything.
Second, CDE and Dignitas played for the the finals of WCG USA last week. It was CLEARLY posted on WCGs website that the finals match should be one best of 3 set, with a one game advantage given to the team from the winners bracket (Dig). This was consistent with how every other qualifier has been played. The teams played the set, according to these rules, to completion. CDE won two games in a row, Dignitas said GG, good luck in korea, and everyone thought CDE was going to Korea.
Now here comes the kicker. Every match in this tournament was played as a best of 3 sets. Since it is a double elimination tournament, that should mean you have to lose 2 SETS to get knocked out of the tournament. Well, with the way the finals were played, that wasn't quite the case. Someone mentioned this to Voyboy, that the finals should have been 3 SETS of 3 games, with a 1 SET advantage to Dignitas, so Dignitas inquired with WCG about what should have happened.
The WCG admins, after discussing with Matt Marcou (E sports organizer for RIot Games), decided that in fact the finals should have been played as 3 SETS of matches with a 1 SET advantage, rather than 3 games with a 1 game advantage (despite this directly contradicting the rules posted on WCG's website and how WCG Canada was played). Matt Marcou claimed there was a mistake in communication, and the ruling was meant to keep things consistant with the Canada qualifiers, because he incorrectly thought the Canada qualifiers final was played as a best of 3 SETS (although it wasn't).
So WCG/Riot overturned the posted rules on the website and had CDE and Dignitas play one extra set. Dignitas got the first set win by coming from the winners bracket, and CDE gets the set win they earned int he original finals.
The above are verifiable facts, and I tried to present them without bias.
Another complaint people are having involve what may or may not have happened in the games played tonight. On two occasions, Dignitas paused the game for various technical difficulties. The games was left paused for longer than the delay on Saintvicious's stream, and immediately after the game was unpaused Dignitias headed for Dragon/Baron, where CDE was setting up. Some people are speculating that they used pause to wait, then observe the streams of their competitors (called ghosting) to see what they were doing and reacted from there. Obviously there is no proof for this, and I'm inclined to believe Dignitas did NOT do this. A team at the level of Dignitas does not need to ghost to know when their opponents are doing dragon or Baron.
