KitServer 5 for PES5 PC / PES5 PC DEMO 2

Version 5.0.0 from Halloween Day 2005.
1. Installation
---------------
As usual: copy the entire kitserver folder into your game folder, so
that the directory structure looks like this:
dat/
kitserver/
PES5.exe
readme.htm
settings.exe
Go to kitserver folder and run setup.exe. The "PES5.exe" in the
drop-down list should be pre-selected, so just press "Install" button.
The kitserver should show a message box saying that the installation
was successful. (If you get an error message, make sure that you
not currently running the game, and that the PES5.exe file is not
marked as read-only)
2. Uninstallation
-----------------
Go to kitserver folder and run setup.exe. The "PES5.exe" in the
drop-down list should be pre-selected. Press "Remove" button.
The kitserver should show a message box saying that the uninstallation
was successful. (You can now delete the whole kitserver folder, if you
want.)
4. Kit file names in KDB
------------------------
Each team has a set of 20 unique ids that correspond to its textures
For example, in full PES5 PC, Real Madrid has the range 7976 - 7995.
See TEAMNUM.txt for id information about every team in the full game.
(Keep in mind that in the demo, the ids are slightly different:
Arsenal 5810-5829, Chelsea 5930-5949, Real 7930-7949, Valencia 8090-8109)
Within those 20 files, each plays a certain role:

To make KDB less flat and confusing, each team has a sepater folder,
named after its first ID. For Real Madrid it is "07976" (for the full game,
and "07930" for the demo).
IMPORTANT: Don't forget the leading "0" - it is
required in folder name (although optional in image file names)
5. Image specification:
-----------------------
1. Two image formats supported:
a) Indexed PNG (8-bit or 4-bit) with RGBA palette
b) Indexed BMP (8-bit or 4-bit) with RGBA palette (non-standard BMP)
When replacing game textures, kitserver first looks for a PNG file,
and if that doesn't exist, then tries to load a BMP file. Keep that in
mind if you experiment with images. For example, if you put both
07986.png and 07986.bmp into KDB folder, the PNG will be used.
2. For each team, all player PNG/BMP files must use the same palette.
3. Player kits can be one of two kinds
a) "all-in-one" (example: Real Madrid away kit - 07991.png)
b) or split into separate files - shirt, shorts, socks.
(example: Read Madrid home kit - 07986.png, 07987.png, 07988.png)
4. GK kits are "old-style" kits (everything - shirt, shorts, socks -
is in the same PNG/BMP.), they can have their own palettes.
5. Transparency: first color of the shared player palette must be 100% transparent.

I've optimized Nvidia settings to work with PES 5, please continue reading. I have a GeForce FX 52000 and I'm glad to tell you that if you tweak the Nvidia settings you can GREATLY improve the performance of these cards for PES 4/5. My card is has 128 MB of RAM and I use WinXP. So if you have an Nvidia card, there's lots of things that you can do in order to improve your performance rather than buying a brand new card. Here are my suggestions
Right click on Desktop, Properties, Configuration
Change the Color quality to 16 bits.
Lower your resolution to the resolution of the game, in my case 1024x768
Click on Advanced Settings
There should be a tab with the name of your video card, in my case GeForce FX 5200
Click on Add Profile, click on Browse and select the executable of PES 4/5, in my case pesaccess05.exe (yep I still play it at least 2-3 times a week ;). Select a name for your profile and click on OK
Ok now select your profile from the Active Profile, and before changing anything, remember to click on the checkbox before the setting that you're gonna change, you'll see Settings for ProfileName (in my case, settings for Pes Access 2005
Ok, now follow this list and you'll have a descent graphic level, with an extremelly fast gameplay speed. Now more slow games, this settings are really gonna improve your game
Make sure that Show advanced settings is turned on
Antialiasing settings - Off
Antisotropic filtering - Application controlled
Image settings - performance *
Vertical sync - Off
Force mipmaps - Bilinear
Conformant texture clamp - On
Extension limit - off
Trilinear optimization - Off
Antisotropic mip filter optimization - Off
Antisotropic sample optimization - On
Negative LOD bias - Allow
*If your game isn't as fast as you want, try changing this to High Performance. You can also change this to Quality if you want to test how high this setting can go without affecting your game speed
Please Post your comments in this news article if you have anythign extra to add to this. I've found that with these settings there is no need to overclock your video card (believe me, these cards can burn if you overclock them too much. Anyway, if you want/can overclock your card, a good idea will be to buy a PCI fan, one that will take out the extra heat out of your computer, and place it beneath your card.
Another good idea will be to run Windows 98 instead of WinXP (believe me, with Win98, an antivirus and a firewall I believe you can count with 95% of your resources in order to play the game much faster)
For me, the tips indicated above work, I can now play PES much faster than what I used to, even 30 minutes matches, this game is really better if you can play it at a descent speed. It's not about the graphics, it's about the fun factor, remember that. I am willing to 'sacrifice' some graphics settings in order to play the game at a fast speed. The Antisotropic filtering was the only setting that really made my game show horrible graphics, when I left it at Application controlled and tweaked the other settings, it worked alright.
