Liverpool have so far failed to make a transfer deadline day raid for West Bromwich Albion's Hungarian midfielder Zoltan Gera.
Red boss Rafa Benitez was linked with a move for the player after it became clear that he would not be successful in prising Nolberto Solano away from Aston Villa and Greek star Stelios opted to remain at Bolton.
Media reports on Tuesday evening suggested that the European champions were set to switch their attentions to 25-year-old Gera on Wednesday but, with time running out ahead of the midnight deadline, no offer has been forthcoming from Anfield for the player.
Boss Bryan Robson will be hoping he does not have to fend off a late bid for the player who signed on a three-year deal from Ferencvaros last summer for £1.5 million and was influential in helping keep the Baggies in the Premiership last season.

Liverpool are understood to be plotting a bid for West Brom ace Zoltan Gera to fill the vacant position on the right-side of midfield.
Reds boss Rafa Benitez has confirmed he is on the trail of a midfielder to patrol the right flank, with Hungary international Gera now understood to be at the top of his wish-list.
Benitez is keen to conclude a deal before the transfer window slams shut but is sure to face a tough task in wrestling the Baggies' star man from The Hawthorns.
