AC Milan's Seedorf: Time for talking is over

Clarence Seedorf says it's time AC Milan players stopped talking and started producing on the pitch.
Carlo Ancelotti's outfit go into today's clash with Lazio 12 points behind Juve and in desperate need of a morale boost following the midweek Coppa Italia exit at the hands of Palermo and the 1-1 draw in the last league outing against Sampdoria.
"There is little to say and a lot to do," Seedorf said. "We have tried to do more in training in order to turn things around as soon as possible.
"But at this time we are finding it extremely challenging to achieve what we need."
Alberto Gilardino has failed to score in the last four league games while top scorer Andriy Shevchenko has not been able to pull off the same sizzling performances as he did last season.
"In the past few months we haven't had the consistency in terms of results that we did last term," added Seedorf.
"That is what it boils down to, if we look at last year in the first four or five months we played worse but the results nevertheless came our way."
Milan are already focusing all their efforts on solving the problems ahead of their Champions League with Bayern Munich as hopes of the Scudetto are fading.
"Our determination is even stronger now," the Dutchman added.
"We have to try to do well in the league, not only because we are looking to compete for second place but also because it would help us prepare better to our Champions League clash."

MILANELLO - Ancelotti talked about the situation within the club: 'The club want to be close the team at this moment. Braida is at Milanello to show this. Our objective is to do better. What we do in training is expressed on the pitch at the weekend. Generally, if we do well in training we put in a positive performance. Lately, we haven't applied that work in games. I can guarantee that we will give our maximum tomorrow evening. Our pride has been dented lately but we'll show all our pride in Rome.'

KALADZE: 'We have to work hard'

MILANELLO - Kala Kaladze was present at the press conference after training and said: 'It's a tough time for us, we lost the last game badly. It's disappointing to go out of the Italian Cup and now we have to work hard. That's the only thing we can do. I don't think we are afraid to make mistakes, we are professionals at the highest level and we are never afraid. I repeat, we just have to work hard and we are convinced that we will get back to playing well.'
As for Paolo Maldini's return, Kala added: 'It will certainly be positive. He's a top player and it's been disappointing to have been without him. I am sorry that he has had such a bad injury. His energy and charisma will be helpful. We are missing him as a top player but we don't have a problem in lacking leadership, Milan has players with plenty of personality.'
KALADZE: 'No problems in the dressing room'

MILANELLO - Kala then discussed the team's fitness: 'I don't think running is our problem, we just have to be more compact and more precise at the back in winning the ball. We have to play as a united side. Is there a problem in the dressing room? No, no between us at all. I have been here seven years, we have had worse seasons than this and I have never seen problems in the dressing room. It's been said that the problem is only in defence but the truth is another thing, the problem is how we defend. We can't just defend with four defenders. Milan are strong when everyone defends together.'
KALADZE: 'We are united as a club'

We are all professionals and we are just thinking about the season and upcoming games. We can talk about the future at the end of the season, now we just have to think about winning. We can't even be thinking about the World Cup, it's better to arrive at the World Cup playing well for your club.
The presence of club officials at Milanello: 'It's right and normal. We are all one club, e stick together in victory and in difficult moments. It's also a tough time for the coach but it's the same for all of us, we also feel it. I am pleased with where I am playing, it's my real role. I played in the centre of defence as a kid and Milan bought me as a central defender.' -

Billy Costacurta has joined Paolo Maldini in being linked with Carlo Ancelotti's job at AC Milan.
Both Milan defenders are candidates to take over from Ancelotti in a caretaker role should the coach be shown the door before the end of the season.
Corriere dello Sport says this will Ancelotti's last season in charge of Milan - even if the Champions League is won. Ancelotti's relationship with Milan directors has deteriorated since last season's Champions League final in Istanbul and the coach has never won back their confidence.
A shortlist of names to succeed Ancelotti have already been drawn up, with Livorno coach Roberto Donadoni and Holland boss Marco van Basten joint favourites of Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani. -

STAM: 'Want to be close to my parents'

MILANELLO - Jaap Stam has explained the reasons for returning to Holland in June when he joins Ajax: 'It’s been written that would return to Holland in January. I asked the club about this possibility but my original request was always to go at the end of the season and I want to finish this campaign by giving my contribution to the team. There are a few months to go yet and I’m eager to help my colleagues to win.' He added: 'I do feel homesick. My family also misses Holland and I want to be closer to my parents now they are growing frail. I am happy that the club has given me this opportunity, as they said I could’ve stayed for another year, but my choice to go was purely down to my family situation.' -
