2.ADVICE BEFORE INSTALLATION
2.1 Hardware Portion:
As DVD MAKER is a PCI Multi-function card, please be sure to confirm there are available PCI slots in the system for DVD MAKER insert.
2.2 Software Portion:
To Windows™ 98/ME/2K Users
Please make sure if Microsoft™ DirectX 8.0 is installed if you are using Windows™ 98/ME/2K operation system.
To Windows™ NT Users
If you are Windows™ NT users, sorry DVD MAKER is not supporting Windows™ NT operation system yet.
3.START TO INSTALL
3.1 Hardware Installation
ŒPlease power off your PC.
Please open the casing.
ŽFind out the available PCI slot on the mainboard.
Please insert DVD MAKER onto the PCI slot perfectly and screw tightly.
Put back the casing with screws fastened.
‘Power on the PC and start the software installation procedure.
3.2 Driver Installation
ŒPlease insert the CD driver onto the CD-ROM Drive. (Assuming CD_ROM driver E)
New hardware system will be detected after entering Windows system. The system will require to install the DVD MAKER driver.
※ The Path of the TV Version Driver is E: \DVD MAKER\TVVersion \Drv .
※ The Path of the Capture Version is E: \DVD MAKER\ CaptureVersion\Drv
ŽThe system will automatically detect the driver and install into the system.
After installing the driver successfully, a new driver can be found on system.
★ Important Note
Sometimes the WinXP can’t fine the right path of the DVD MAKER Driver.
Please follow the next step to install the Drive.
Step1: When you put the DVD MAKER PCI Card into a PCI Slot and restart the computer, WinXP will start to run the New Hardware Wizard. Please select the “Install from a list or specific location(Advanced)” and click “Next”.
Step2:Please select “Include this location in the search”. Then select the path of the driver. The Path of the TV Version Driver is E: \DVD MAKER\TVVersion \Drv .
The Path of the Capture Version is E: \DVD MAKER\ CaptureVersion\Drv
Step3: The Windows will find the DVD MAKER Driver, Please click the “Continue Anyway ” to the next step.
Step4: The WinXP will find file location e: \DVD MAKER\TVVersion\
drv\i386 .
Step5: Please change the path to the e: \DVD MAKER\TVVersion
\drv\Cap7146.sys .
Step6: Then the Hardware Update Wizard will continue to install the driver. When you see the picture below that means your driver install well.. please click the “Finish” to close the Wizard
3.3 Installation of DVD MAKER Application
After the drivers are installed, the next step you need to do is to install the DVD MAKER application.
ŒStart Windows and insert the DVD MAKER CD disk into the CD-ROM drive. The DVD MAKER Autorun Page will appear, please select “DVD MAKER”.
Select the “DVD MAKET_TV Version“ to start to install the “DVD MAKER (TV Version) Application” or select the “DVD MAKER Capture_Version” to start to install the “DVD MAKER (Capture Version ) Application” .
ŽChoose the same language as Windows OS and click ‘OK’.
Please pick up your local TV system after entering the installation program
as below:
Please follow the install wizard to install DVD MAKER Application.
After the application is installed, it will appears the below DMA setting dialogue.
As DVD MAKER is a high-end encoding card, it requires a faster operating system.
To get the best performance of DVD MAKER , we suggest you select DMA setting.
‘Click OK button, the ‘System Setting Change’ dialogue shows up.
Click the ‘Yes’ button to restart the system.
4.Start to Use the DVD MAKER Application
4.1 Running the DVD MAKER for the first time
Please click on ‘Start’ > ‘Programs’ >‘DVD MAKER’ > ‘Control Panel’ to start
DVD MAKER application.
Note: Before start DVD MAKER application, all settings of ‘Power management’ have to set to ‘Never’. Please go to Start \ Settings \ Control panels \ Power management \ Power schemes \ System standby \ Turn off monitor \ Turn off hard disks, all select 'Never’.

DVD MAKER function list can also be founded by clicking right button of mouse on DVD MAKER screen.

4.3.1 Encode Setting
When clicking ‘Encode Setting’ icon, it shows the below dialogue which includes four parts of settings:
1. MPEG Parameter
2. Disk Information
3. Video
4. Capture Time Limit/File Path/AV Split
1. MPEG Parameter
ŒSimple Mode:
• Provide standard parameter setting for VCD/DVD/SVCD.
• Set up Video Format/Frame Rate (support PAL/SECAM 25fps or NTSC 29.97fps)
Advance Mode:
• Provide set up Picture Size(NTSC/PAL/SECAM) Custom:
Select: Full[Mpeg2] mode.
1/2[Mpeg2] mode.
2/3[Mpeg2] mode.
SIF[Mpeg1] mode.
• Rate Control! CBR (fixed sample rate)
VBR (Varied sample rate)
• .Set up Video Format/Frame Rate.
(Support PAL 25fps or NTSC 29.97fps)
• Bit Rate: Adjust video bit rate.
• I/P frames distance 3, number of frames in GOP 12 GOP number must be I/P number in times.
• Tick HHR Filtering! Enable HHR Filter.
• User Data! If ticking ‘Disable’, the user’s data embedded in front of captured MPEG file won’t appear.
2. Disk Information.
• The saved hard disk can be set up before capturing.
• When the saved hard disk space is less than 100MB free spaces, the system will stop recording automatically.
• You can capture the file size up to 4GB.
3. Video.
ŒVideo Adjustment:
Brightness: Default at 128.
Contrast: Default at 64.
Saturation: Default at 64.
Hue: Default at 0.
Video Standard.
You can select NTSC or PAL or SECAM video format.
Or click Auto Detect to select NTSC or PAL/SECAM automatically.
ŽVideo Source.
Select ‘Video Tuner In Air/Cable’ video source.
0: Select ‘Video Tuner In’ video source.
1: Select ‘Video Composite In’ video source.
2: Select ‘Video S -Video In’ video source.
4. Capture Time Limit/File Path/AV Split
ŒUse Time Limit: Set up the recording time (hr, min, sec).
Capture/Playback Option (Tick AV Split)
Save captured audio and video files into MPV file format (video) and MPA file format (audio).
ŽWorking Path: Tick ‘Use Working Path’ and select the path and file name you
want to save into.
4.3.2 Show Pop Up Menu
When clicking “ “ icon, it shows the below dialogue which includes two parts of settings:
1. Manual Scanning.
The Manual Scanning Tool shown below is a useful tool for searching available
tuned channels when the built-in frequency table is not correct.
This dialogue is to add the searched frequency into the given channel number.
2.Channel Editor
Channel Editor is a tool of editing all channel attributes.
Rename: If you want to change the channel name, please enter the name you
want (i.e. DISCOVERY) in below dialogue and click ok to enter.
Remap: You can re-map the current channel to the different channel number
by selecting below number you like.
4.4 DMA setting
As DVD MAKER is a high-end encoding card, it requires a faster operating system. To get the best performance of DVD MAKER , please make sure you have started the below two functions on the system.
1. Before starting DVD MAKER application, please follow the instruction below to check your setting.
Œ Please click ’Start\Control panel\System\Device to Device Manager
select ‘System Device \Direct memory access controller\setting’.
ŽTick ‘Reserve DMA buffer’,
Key in ‘64’ K bytes reserved.
Click Direct memory access controller.
Reserve DMA Buffer
at 64Kbytes reserved.
2. Before starting DVD MAKER application, please follow the instruction below to check your setting.
Œ Please click “Start\Control panel\System\Device” to Device Manager
Select “Disk drives\GENERIC IDE DISK TYPE 46\ Setting”
ŽClick on “DMA”.
4.5 Schedule Record Wizard
When you click this function, it shows a ‘Schedule Record’ dialogue below:
When clicking ‘New’ button, it shows a new schedule setting dialogue as below:
When the above setting is ok, please click ‘Next’ and it shows the below dialogue.
1. Encode Setting.
ΠSimple Mode (standard mode)! Provide standard parameter setting for
VCD/DVD/SVCD.
• Select picture size VCD, DVD or SVCD standard (NTSC/PAL/SECAM)
• Set up video format / frame rate (support PAL/SECAM 25fps or NTSC 29.97fps).
Advance Mode: Adjust Bit Rate according to Requirements.
• Set up Picture Size(NTSC/PAL/SECAM) Custom:
Select Full[Mpeg2], 1/2[Mpeg2], 2/3[Mpeg2], SIF[Mpeg1] mode.
• Rate Control! CBR (fixed sample rate)
VBR (Varied sample rate)
• .Set up Video Format/Frame Rate.
(Support PAL 25fps or NTSC 29.97fps)
• Bit Rate: Adjust video bit rate.
• I/P frames distance 3, number of frames in GOP 12
GOP number must be I/P number in times.
• Tick HHR Filtering: Enable HHR Filter.
• User Data: If ticking ‘Disable’, the user’s data embedded in front of captured MPEG file won’t appear.
When the above setting is ok, you can add another new schedule. The functions of
buttons of ‘Schedule Record Wizard’ are introduced as below:
*When clicking ‘start’ button, it starts to record according to the schedule.
*When clicking ‘Del’ button, it deletes the schedule setting.
*When clicking ‘Stop’ button, it stops schedule recording.
*When clicking ‘Hide’ button, it hides the ‘schedule record wizard’ o n task bar.
*When clicking ‘Info’ button, it shows below dialogue about the schedule record
information.
4.6 TV Mode Configuration
ŒClick on Preview Mode (DIB Draw) to switch to Preview Mode.
Click on Overlay Mode (Direct Draw) to switch to Overlay Mode.
4.7 Uninstall
Before uninstalling DVD MAKER application, please close DVD MAKER control panel first. (Click right button of mouse on DVD MAKER icon on the task bar and select ‘Unload panel’) And go to ‘start \program\DVD MAKER \Uninstall’ to uninstall application.

1. Q: The screen would be vibrating while recording program through DVD MAKER.
A:1.Please turn on the DMA mode from HDD. (Please check P.17 )

2. Q: Why does the video stop when the video window size is adjusted?
A: As DVD MAKER application is based on DirectX 8.0, please install Microsoft™ DirectX 8.0 to solve this problem.
3. Q: Why does the system crash and cause the DVD MAKER application errors when
start access saving power scheme?
A: Before start DVD MAKER application , all settings of ‘Power management’ have to be ‘Never’. Please go to Start \ Settings \ Control panels \ Power
management \ Power schemes \ System standby \ Turn off monitor \ Turn off
hard disks, all select “Never”.
4. Q: Why can’t I open “DMA” setting from ‘My computer’ \ Control \System
\Device management \Hard disk \ Generic IDE Disk Type?
A: When some IDE Disk Types of Hard disk or CD ROM connecting devices are accessing DMA function, it cause the system can’t open DMA mode. Please remove all IDE connections of Hard disk or CD ROM from the computer.
5. Q: No sound release while record playing back?
A:1.Please be sure the Line-out has been connected with Line-in of the sound card.
2.Please check if the Line-in of the Record Property of volume control has been enable.
3.If it is unable record the sound, please use the MIC-in of the sound card.
And enable it in the Record property of volume control
6. Q: The voice burst out while recording play back.
A: 1.Please install DirectX 8.0
2.Please update sound card driver.
7. Q: The application is in blue picture while opening.
A:1.Please be sure that the driver of VGA card is correct or please update the driver of VGA card to the latest version.
2.Please update DirectX Driver.
8. Q: The reference step of upgrading picture quality.
A:1.Please update Microsoft DirectX Driver.
2.Please update the VGA Card Driver.
3.Please update the Driver of your main board. (ex: VIA chipset, or Intel chipset driver and utilities.)
9. Q: The TV picture is in black while recording.
A:1.Please be sure the VGA card supporting Overlay or update the driver of VGA card.
2.Please update DirectX 8.0 Driver.
10.Q: The DVD MAKER PCI Card could not be installed correctly and the message "unknown device" would come out in the Windows.
A: Please check if the DVD MAKER PCI Card is put in the PCI slot correctly or try another one PCI slot.
11.Q: What operation system would be supported by DVD MAKER ?
A: MS WINDOWS 98/SE/ME/2000/XP
12. Q: The file size limitation of single file.
A:1.Windows FAT16: 2GB
2.Windows FAT32: 4GB
3.Windows NTFS: No limitation
13. Q: Why I install the driver in WinXP, the os always ask me to insert the file location?
A: Sometimes the WinXP can’t fine the right path of the DVD MAKER Driver.

nos a gondom az hogy win98-ra fel sem tudom rakni. xp-n megy csak a hangja nem jon be. és mi az a tv out hiába kötöm a tévére semmi nem megy rajta. a tömörítés jó és szép képet ad vissza csak hát a hang :(((
